Piccolo Spoleto + V-Tones!
It's always magical when a dream comes true. I've always wished that the V-Tones could play for our city-wide arts festval, Piccolo Spoleto (little sister of the international Spoleto festival), and finally it's going to happen! We'll be playing for the Concert in the Park, at Allan Park, on Friday, June 1st. It's a free concert, and we play from 7-8:15pm. Then, hang out for bluegrass from the Beebos! It'll be a delightful way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the park and of our fantastic neighbourhood. Allan Park is near the corner of Ashley and Huger streets, just a hop, skip and jump away from Hampton Park. It's another first for the legendary V-Tones, and we'd love for everyone to join us! Happy Spoleto!
The Tea Room Shows
Playing with the Lime and the Coconuts is always an adventure! We're playing, for the seventh year in a row (!) at the Second Presbyterian Tea Room from 11am-2-pm during the Spoleto festival weekends (May25th,26th, and June 1st, 2nd). For those of you who live out of town, Spoleto is a city-wide arts festival here in Charleston, SC. Many churches host concerts. I'm very happy to be joining the Coconuts once again for our epic shows. We like to cover a wide spectrum of genre: mostly Swing, Jazz and Folk music. Come on down for lunch and check out the Coconuts at the Second Presbyterian Church--that's downtown Charleston---across Meeting street from Marion Square. Thanks!
Swing Dancing
Swing Dance and Swing Music evolved together. It's fun to move to and fun to play. Try it! On Friday, May 11th, I'll be back with the V-Tones at Spirit Moves for the Friday night Swing Dance presented by the Hot Jazz Dance Club, here in Charleston. Everybody is welcome, and lessons are included in the price---it's just $10. It's like playing music--you've got to jump into the activity to learn the activity! Join us for a fun night.
Jamming at the French Broad River Festival
There's nothing like jamming with fellow musicians. There are so many good songs out there, heck, entire genre of music that I don't know. Playing live with others is a great way to learn new songs as well as technique. I'm looking forward to jamming at the French Broad River Festival with Sol Driven Train, Caroline Pond, and the other musicians. There is always something new to learn!
