V-Tones: messengers of Hope and Joy

POST-PONED DUE TO RAIN: RESET FOR APRIL 25th, more TBA

The Charleston-based organization, People Against Rape, in partnership with MUSC’s National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, is sponsoring the 2013 Take Back the Night event, themed “Shatter the Silence. Stop the Violence.” It will take place April 4, 2013 at 6 p.m. at Brittlebank Park. The event is open to the public and we invite all residents of the tri-county area to come out and make a stand against sexual assault in our community.

Participants will assemble at Brittlebank Park where local experts will provide brief commentary on the importance of raising awareness about and eliminating sexual violence in our community. The event will include a variety of arts-related projects, including recognizing a poetry competition winner and other events encouraging creative expression about the vital need to stop violent sexual crimes.

Along with the serious message about making our communities safe, there will be activities celebrating the strength of survivors of sexual assault and a message of hope and joy about the resiliency of the human spirit. Activities for children and families will be provided. as well as a food trucks, music by The V-Tones, and dancing!

V-Tones at The Sparrow with Willy Gantrim

Do the V-Tones ever play in bars? Of course we do! Get out from behind that screen on Wednesday night (March 27th)  for an evening of Western Swing and East Coast Country at The Sparrow! The V-Tones are happy to be opening for hard travellin' Willy Gantrim about 9pm. We've got local 'Vintage Country' legend, Mr. Roger Bellow playing with us, so we're ready to get educated and to provide some social dance music! The door is $5. Join the too-much-fun club as we meet on the the street that can't be beat--that's East Montague up in North Charleston.

Pass the Hat

Hi there! If you're looking for adventure, join me at the Goorin Hat Shop on Thursday, March 21st.  Some kind of musical excursion will be a'happenin', and we'll see what it is once we get there. It's like when Dick Clark asked the 13th Floor Elevators which band mate was the head of the band. "We're all heads", replied Roky. It is my mission to move music out into the world. What's your mission? Let's make Charleston fun. You can help---support love music. Oh yes, and it's FREE!

V-Tones at Poetry House

The V-Tones are very, very busy these days, but not too busy to play for the Poetry House in downtown Charleston! We'll be doing just that on St. Patrick's Sunday, March 17th, from 8-10pm. The Poetry House is at 107 Ashley Avenue, and though the event is free, we would really appreciate some tips! It's time to spread the green around, anyway.
