Proud to be a Coconut
In addition to the fabulous V-Tones, yours truly is also a member of the local freak-folk band, 'Lime and the Coconuts'. Mary Edna Fraser, a world famous batik artist is our band leader and pulls together a lovely bunch of coconuts for our various shows. The music careens between pre-Victorian folk songs and Swing standards, with surprising jaunts into the modern songbooks as well. Mary Edna has a wonderful musical sensibility and with the Coconuts or motto could be "anything can happen and often does"! We've got some cool shows coming up next week. The North Charleston Arts Festival Street Fair is on Wednesday, May 4th. It's up on Montague and we'll play from 5-8pm. Then the next night, Thursday, May 5th, we'll be playing a Literacy Benefit at the Blackbaud Atrium Lobby at about the same time. Dress as your favorite literary character!
