Holiday Bazaar

Hey everybody! The V-Tones of Charleston are delighted to participate in the Johns Island Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 5th! We'll be playing from 1-4pm, but the music and market goes on all day---that's out on Maybank Highway, across from the library.

And; on Sunday December 6th, we've got a dedicated squad out on the Folly Beach Pier to play for their little holiday market, too. That's from noon-3pm, and we've got Brad Edwardson on bass as our special guest star!!

Bah-Hoo-Door -Ray! Free Music! Free your mind!

Tattooed Moose

Hey everybody! There's a new Tattooed Moose out on Maybank Highway (John's Island), and the V-Tones are playing there on Saturday, November 28th. The cool thing is that it's an early (3-6pm) show, and free, and all ages! Wahoo! We'll be ready to play! Will you?

Jake Shimabukuro!

Well friends, it was a last minute call to play at Earl Klugh's Kiawah Jazz Festival last night. We got to open for the master of the ukulele, Mr. Jake Shimabukuro! Wow--what a thrill. The weather was beautiful, the crowd was really kind, and Jake couldn't have been nicer. I must admit that my usual sense of decorum went out the window as I found myself babbling at Jake! I'm proud of the V-Tones for being a band that can snap into action at anytime and knock out a 2 hour show. Let's also give a big shout out to Lee Barbour, who is our local jazz raconteur and who got us the recommendation. Lee, thanks a million!

O'Hara & Flynn's Winebar

Be a tourist in your own town! Or, be a tourist in my town! Either way, you'll want to pop in to O'Hara & Flynn's, a charming little wine bar on Meeting street, in the heart of Charleston. I'll be there on Friday night  (Nov.6) with Roger Bellow, and on Saturday night (Nov. 7) with Eden Fonvielle, for evenings of mellow, acoustic music. We'll play from 8-11 on both nights, and there is no cover. It's a great place to relax and let the rest of the world go by!

Prohibition Halloween warm up dance

It's Spooookulele time! Join the V-Tones of Charleston this Wednesday, October 28th at Prohibition for a free Swing Dance! We'll be playing the music you can jump too with a great band. We've got Bill McSweeney on Trombone this time around and Brad Bolchoz joining us on drums, and then the usual gang of nuts! We always like to dress up, so we invite you to as well. It's a free dance, with a free lesson from Stephen Duane at 7pm, then our live music from 8-11pm. You don't have to dance if you don't want to---but you'll be glad you did! And we'll be glad to see you all there!

Georgetown Wooden Boats Festival

Ahoy there! The V-Tones will be back at the Georgetown Wooden Boats Festival again this year. We'll be playing from noon-4pm on Sunday, Oct. 18th. We'll be at 729 Front Street, so drop on by and say hello! Naughty and Nautical songs on the horizon!

L'Chaim, Y'all!

Hey friends!
I've been asked to congregate an Ukulele parade on this Sunday (Oct.11) for the Lowcountry Nosh. Hassell street will be closed down (King street, too) and we'll parade around playing 'Hava Nagila' from 3pm to 3:15 pm, yes, that's right, one song!!!!!  Meet up at the historic KKBE synagogue about 2:30 and I'll teach you the song (3 chords, A7, Dm, Gm)--it's free and part of the Jewish Heritage Festival. Dress code is comfortable!!!

I'd love to have some strummers on board for this!

On Sunday, we'll be back at Prohibition for the Swing Dance. There's a free lesson at 6pm, and the music runs from 7-10pm. We'll have Melissa Koci (soon to be Dr. Koci) with us on the bandstand for the first set. This is a free show! Come on out a benefit you r local Swing Dance scene.
