She Goes He Goes/V-Tones Dance

Prohibition is the place to be on Sunday and Wednesday nights! They, in conjunction with the Roaring 20s Hot Jazz dance club, host a Swing Dance each and every Wednesday.  There is a free, yes free dance lesson which is taught by Stephen Duane, then a real live band takes the stage! Wowza!
This week She Goes He Goes plays on Sunday, September 28th, lesson at 6pm, music from 7-10pm.  Wednesday, October 1st, the wack-a-doodle V-Tones of Charleston play. The lesson is at 7pm, music from 8-11pm. Drop on in!  The zone is your own.

Big Jim Allen

This week provides all of y'all out in Ukuleleland the rare opportunity to catch Big Jim Allen play some strings with the V-tones! Jim is from the Tampa, Florida area, and hops up to Charleston from time to time. This time he'll be joining us on stage at Prohibition for the weekly Swing Dance--that's Wednesday, September 24th. There is a free dance lesson at 7pm, and then live music from 8-11pm.
On Thursday, Jim and Noodle will be camping out at the Goorin Brothers hat shop (King Street) for some hat shop jammin! That show is also free, and it's from 5:30-7:30pm. Drop on in and get some quality hob nobbing!

hats hats, everywhere hats

Come on down all you hat enthusiasts for two weeks of hair raising hatstravagance and head bobbing fun! On Thursday, September 18th, the V-Tones of Charleston will be at the Goorin Brothers Hat Shop (on King street, near Calhoun) to celebrate their 2nd year anniversary. That's from 6-8pm, and it'll be free, but come on...you've been saving up for a hat, haven't you?
The following Thursday September 25th, I'll be back at hat shop with a visiting ukulele/string wiz, namely Jim Allen, from Florida. We'll be there, providing some songs for chapeau shopping.
Jim will also be joining the V-Tones at Prohibition the night before (Wed. Sept 24th ) from 8-11pm, for the weekly dance night. Also a free show, and also Swingin'! So, don't flip your lid, get your lid hid!

Blackwater Ukulele Festival!

Whew! It's that time of year again! Each Fall my buddy Jim Ravoira pulls together a massive ukulele festival at Cypress Gardens. This year it's on Saturday, September 13th, and it goes on all day. Admission to the festival is included in the garden admission (which is $10 I think). Now, I'll teach a beginner's workshop bright and early, at 10:30am! The V-Tones will take the stage at 1:30pm, but there'll be lots and lots of other activities--ukulele vendors, the Charleston Hot Shots! boat rides! Jamming! Hula Workshop and demo! Reptilarium! Swamp gardens! Then the whole day ends with an open mic (which is really popular)---so come on out and get tuned with the local ukulele enthusiasts! ALOOOOOOHA!
